Is this an outfit post?!?! Why yes, yes it is! It's been a very long minute since I've done one of these but I figured I would do a feature. This was one of my favorite looks from my trip and it deserves some love, and details of course! While I've been primarily using my blog to post travel guides to send to friends and family, I wanted to bring it back to its OG roots and do something I haven't done in a while. It's so funny, I used to only use this platform to post looks, but now that it's so much easier to do that on Instagram, I kind of stopped doing it here. I guess I kind of assume no one really cares to see full looks or read about random things anymore, but maybe I'm wrong! If you like posts like this, please let me know!
I wanted to share this look as well as some personal thoughts about Lake Como, since there are so many things I could say and often times I feel limited with how much backstory I can give in my travel guides. I would rather just get on with the recommendations! Anyways, Lake Como was truly, truly a dream. I remember seeing people vacation here a few years ago, then I kept seeing it more and more. I was told it's kind of a sleepy town and very honeymoon-y. But that is literally all I want in a place! Don't get me wrong, I love being out and about and seeing all the sites and whatnot, but I also love just relaxing and enjoying a pretty view. That was literally Lake Como. Everything was so stunning and I fell in love with every moment. It was also so very picturesque! The more I travel, the more I appreciate the life I have. Sounds kinda cheesy, but I always find myself in these crazy beautiful places that are straight out of a dream and I just stand there in awe of what I'm seeing. In my opinion, travel is probably one of the most humbling experiences.
As you can already assume, Italy gets really hot in the summer. Almost to the point where it's unbearable, but that is what makes traveling to other places so fun. In the summer, if I'm not wearing shorts 24/7 I'm actually annoyed. I love hot summer days and nights, and that is exactly what we got in Italy! Lake Como was a little cooler than Milan, considering we were by the water, so this look was perfect for day to night. I maybe outdid the Gucci, but hey, you can never have too much. I got the slides for my birthday and the bag I got when I was in Italy last summer. For the past few years I have been rocking my Adidas slides, which I love, but I just feel a little more sophisticated with these. I could wear slides all day everyday, but in some occasions, it calls for something a little less sporty since the Adidas ones can look very locker room-esque. The waist bag is also one of my favorite pieces because it can be worn as a fanny pack, like in these photos, or usually I wear it around my shoulder as a cross body bag. Very versatile.
I mean, doesn't this look like a movie set?! This was taken right by the ferry stop at Cernobbio.
I absolutely love this shirt as well. A clothing brand reached out to me on Instagram and wanted to send me some shirts, and this is one of them. You may recall seeing it on my story. It was from Brooklyn Brigade (their Instagram is here) and the shirts are very high quality. I love love love linen in the summer, so this shirt was perfect. It's so breathable, and even on hot days, you don't feel so stuffy. The print also stood out to me as the perfect "Summer in Italy" type of shirt so I had to request it!
In general, I would say this is such a great day look for guys in the summer. If you ever have an event or a party that you don't want to feel too casual to, I highly recommend pairing a short sleeve button up shirt (doesn't necessarily have to be linen) with some denim shorts. Depending on what you are going to, you could pair it with high top Converse, sneakers, or even slides like me! Adding a necklace (or two or three) is optional, but I won't be caught dead without a slew of chains around my neck. I would rock this to a pool party, BBQ, or even happy hour and go straight to dinner.
I hope you enjoyed this outfit as much as I enjoyed the gelato in this photo and you can find all the pieces below! The only item missing is the denim shorts since I got them from rag & bone a few years ago but I've added similar!
