Madison Avenue is probably one of my favorite streets in New York. It is parallel to Fifth Avenue which as most people know is the holiest of holy grails when it comes to shopping but is PACKED with tourists, especially in December when I was there. So when that's the case, I love to head to Madison which has just as good of shopping and food (aka Barneys and Ladurée). Considered the Upper East Side, it's also great when you want to try and fulfill your Gossip Girl lifestyle.
I've found that lately I have been wearing a lot more black than I did in the past. I used to spice up my outfits with some color and lately I've been just mixing and matching all my black pieces together. It must be the weather. This is something I love about New Yorkers -- their mindset of "When in doubt, wear black." Although that's very true for Los Angeles as well (especially when it comes to night life), I feel like because it's mostly sunny year round, wearing black in the middle of summer is a little odd. So think of this as my homage to the city.
I paired this look with my new Saint Laurent boots that I am absolutely obsessed with. I have been looking for a more elevated Chelsea boot and found just the one. I love the small heel since it definitely leans towards 80s rock style, something Saint Laurent does well. They go great with both all black looks because the texture stands out, and also with jeans for something more casual. Although the heel is a little off-putting for most, I like it since it's different and doesn't look like your average Chelsea boot that almost everyone has nowadays. Also a tip -- never break in new shoes in New York. Ouch.
